National trainer and national training facilitator

 

1.     Introduction

Health Poverty Action (HPA) is an international NGO, which has worked in Vietnam since 2016. Our mission is to support poor people in their efforts to achieve better health and well-being. Currently, HPA Vietnam implements projects related to Tuberculosis (TB), malaria control and SARS-CoV-2 Antigen RDT rolling-out in selected provinces. 

The objective of the SARS-CoV-2 Antigen RDT rolling-out project is to scale up AG-RDTs in Vietnam at different settings with following outcomes: i) Increased awareness and understanding of AG-RDTs in COVID-19 diagnosis and prevention as part of national COVID-19 control strategy in Vietnam; ii) Increased number of health and other facilities, such as schools are ready to use AG-RDTs for COVID-19 prevention in Dak Lak and Gia Lai, focusing on Malaria and Tuberculosis sectors; and iii) Improved the accessibility of COVID-19 testing services at the community level in 2 target provinces. In order to achieve the objective and expected outcomes, HPA will adapt training materials and implementation guidance developed and disseminated by WHO and FIND together with MOH and WHO country offices in Vietnam, conducting training and proficiency assessment of trainees at the central, provincial, district as well as at the community/village level. 

For the purposes of programme management support for SARS-CoV-2 Antigen RDT training, HPA currently is seeking a national master trainer and a national training facilitator. 

2.     Purpose of Role

The overall purpose of the position is to train provincial trainers on SARS-CoV-2 Antigen RDT. The national master trainer and national training facilitator are responsible for working closely with HPA to identify training planning, effectively delivering training, subsequent reporting and maintaining data of trainees in Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces. The national master trainer and national training facilitator must ensure that trainings are participatory and engaging through the use of various activities and practical tools that would enrich the understanding and testing skills of the trainees. 

3.     Major Tasks

Under the supervision of HPA Vietnam Country Office, the national master trainer and national training facilitator will be responsible for:

·       Adapt training materials and implementation guidance developed and disseminated by WHO and FIND together with MOH and WHO country offices in Vietnam;

·       Prepare training material in line with the WHO, FIND guidance and the MoH’s recommendations and print training material/handouts for the participants;

·       Make sure that training materials are updated that can address the need of health staff and participants for the SARS-CoV-2 Antigen RDT;

·       Conduct three trainings of trainers in collaboration with HPA and CDC ensuring training is interactive and participative;

·       Evaluate training performance and make recommendations for enhancing effectiveness of training content and delivery and carry out proficiency assessment (both theorical and practical) of trainees at the provincial level;

·       Train 30 health officers as provincial trainers involved in the COVID‐19 response at provincial level and maintain trainee records for each province;

·       Oversee and manage smooth implementation of the training activities of the project according to the training plan;

·       Prepare training activity reports.

5.     Experiences and Requirements: 

Master Trainer:

·       Qualified health professional or other health related field; 

·       At least 7 years of professional experience working in the management of capacity building events and coordination with multiple stakeholders;

·       At least 7 years of experience in training of health professionals, especially in adult learning principles and conducting interactive presentations; ToT training; training experience related to other RDTs is relevant;

·       Demonstrated ability in competency-based adult education and clinical training;

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

·       Spoken and written competence in English; and

·       Good computer skills; including ability to use Word Excel, power point presentation and email programs properly. 

Training Facilitator:

·       Qualified health professional or other health related field; 

·       At least 5 years of professional experience working in the management of capacity building events and coordination with multiple stakeholders;

·       At least 5 years of experience in training of health professionals, especially in adult learning principles and conducting interactive presentations; ToT training; training experience related to other RDTs is relevant;

·       Demonstrated ability in competency-based adult education and clinical training;

·       Strong interpersonal and communication skills;

·       Spoken and written competence in English; and

·       Good computer skills; including ability to use Word Excel, power point presentation and email programs properly.
